Researchers are studying the role genetics plays in a person’s likelihood to enter into a marriage that will end in divorce. The study focused on identical twins. Researchers hypothesized that if divorce is in the genes, identical twins – who have the same genetic make-up – should have the same divorce quotient.
Imagine the possibilities if scientists are able to identify the “divorce gene” and it becomes possible to identify probable divorces before they leave the womb. Parents could begin contributing to a divorce fund at the same time they begin their baby’s college fund.
