3 Things You Should Know About Child Support and Taxes

  1.  Whoever has custody gets to claim the child(ren) on his or her tax return unless both parents file a special IRS form agreeing to a different arrangement each year.
  2. The parent receiving child support does not need to report it as income.
  3. The parent paying child support  cannot deduct it.
